DECO LEAVES CHELSEA

Ambitious Brazilian club Fluminense have signed former Portugal international Deco on a two-year contract. The 32-year-old, who arrived at the side via a free transfer, will reportedly earn $9 million a year at his new club.

Deco had been informed by Chelsea earlier in the summer that he was free to look for a new club as he did not feature in manager Carlo Ancelotti's plans for the 2010-11 campaign. The Brazilian-born Portuguese international himself had admitted that he wanted to play for Fluminense and end his playing career in his native country Brazil, and is now set to fulfil his ambition.

The 32-year-old joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2008 but failed in his plight to light up the Premier League. He started his footballing career with Brazilian giants Corinthians and moved to current Portuguese champions Benfica in 1997.

After winning the Champions League with FC Porto in 2004, Deco moved to Spanish giants Barcelona with whom he won two Primera Division titles and the European Cup in 2006.

Fabregas Commits to Arsenal, Shrugs off Barcelona..

Cesc Fabregas today put an end to the longest transfer saga of the year by revealing he will not be leavingArsenal for Barcelona this summer.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who has been subjected to an unprecedented charm offensive from the Spanish giants, admitted that he was keen on a move to his hometown club - but insisted that he respected Arsenal's decision to turn down two bids for him.

Officially announced on Arsenal's website, Fabregas said: "Firstly, I would like to apologise to all the Arsenal fans for not speaking sooner about my future but I've not known what I was going to do until this moment.

"I cannot deny that joining a club like Barcelona was not an attractive move for me. This was the club I learned my football, my hometown, where all my friends and family are and a club I have always dreamed of playing.

"There's not many players in the world who would not want to play for Barcelona.

"I have had many conversations with Arsene Wenger, both in person and over the telephone in the last few months. And although the contents of those conversations will remain private the conclusion is that Barcelona have had two formal offers rejected by Arsenal.

"I am a professional and fully understand that is Arsenal's prerogative not to sell me. 

"I owe a lot to the club, the manager and the fans and I will respect their decision and concentrate on the new season ahead with Arsenal.

"I can assure all the fans that now the negotiations are ended I will be 100 per cent focused on playing for Arsenal.

"I am an Arsenal player and as soon as I step out on to the pitch this is the only club I will be thinking about. I am looking forward to the start of the season and putting all of this speculation behind me."

Anticipating EA Sports FIFA 11

FIFA 11 will be the 18th title in Electronic Arts' FIFA series of football video games. Developed by EA Canada, it will be published by Electronic Arts worldwide under the EA Sports label on 30 September 2010 in Australia, 28 September 2010 in North America and 1 October 2010 in Europe for all platforms except the Wii. The Wii version will be released on 3 October 2010 in North America and Europe. The Windows version of FIFA 11 will be the first in the series to use the same game engine as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

• Next Gen Gameplay Engine (PC) - The game engine that is used for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of the game will now be used on the PC.

• FIFA World (PC) This will allow the player to customize their online avatar, compete with players from all over the world and fight for positions on the leaderboard

• Personality+ (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) is a system intended to improve the way that players' individual abilities are reflected in-game, resulting in clearer differentiation between players. Personality+ utilises a database containing 36 attributes and 57 traits for each player, maintained by a worldwide network of 1700 scouts, editors, and reviewers.

• Pro Passing (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) is a new passing system where the gamer's own accuracy with the control pad, as well as the situation and skills of the players on the pitch, determines the accuracy of each pass.

• Creation Centre (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) is a new web-based application which allows the user to create material to download to their console and share with their friends. Created teams names, kits, players and home stadia can be customised and players can be edited in a more in-depth way than before. Create a player by choosing his appearance, accessories and attributes and then create an original team with a distinctive crest and kits, complete with home stadium.

• Custom soundtracks For the first time in the series the player will be able to create their own personalised soundtrack by importing their favourite music into the game. Customised chants can also be imported and a club's anthems and chants can be set to play during introductions, halftime, after goals, or at the end of matches. The player's virtual pro's name can be chanted in the stadium.

• Career Mode (Xbox360,PlayStation 3 and PC) Be A Pro mode and Manager mode have been merged into the new Career mode, where the player can choose to be a player, manager, or player-manager over fifteen seasons.

• Street Football (Wii) Players can now play 5 vs 5 street football as well as the traditional 11 vs 11. Each street player has a distinctive style of play with unique abilities to match, and for the first time, head on indoors to play with many additional customizable features.

Champions League Qualifiers 2010-2011 Play Off Draw...

Several clubs will have to overcome teams from neighbouring countries after the draw for the UEFA Champions League play-off round was conducted in Nyon.

Two-time UEFA Cup winners Sevilla FC face an Iberian derby against SC Braga, who eliminated Celtic FC in their maiden match in Europe's top club competition. That meeting takes place in the League Route while in the Champions Route, Norwegian titleholders Rosenborg BK take on Danish counterparts FC København and old ties will be renewed when Czech side AC Sparta Praha meet Slovakia's MŠK Žilina.
