Robinho - Brazil (CBF News)

OL’s attempt to secure the signature of the 26-year-old would appear to be somewhat audacious as it has been reported that the Citizens are only willing to allow Robinho to leave on a permanent basis as it would mean they would recoup some of the player’s massive transfer fee.

Additionally, and perhaps crucially, les Gones would be seriously straining to afford such a talent. Not only would Lyon struggle to simply match the €19.5 million offer that Besiktas have had accepted, the player’s wages will prove another serious impediment to a permanent deal.

Should Michel Bastos leave for Real Madrid, as has been suggested in some quarters on Friday morning, then funds would be freed up and could perhaps allow a deal to be brokered, but until that time the move would appear to be very unlikely.

Olympique Lyonnais are the latest in the long line of clubs who have been linked with a potential move forManchester City’s Robinho, with L’Equipe suggesting that les Gones will attempt to plunder the player on a temporary basis. The Brazilian’s is a name that has been linked to many sides this summer. Earlier in the week it was reported that Barcelona were interested in the former Santos man, and though Pep Guardiola was quick to quash such rumours, Besiktas have reportedly had a bid accepted for the attacker.
